About the role

Join the SureHire Team as a Licensed Practical Nurse/Occupational Health Assessor!

We're looking for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our dedicated team at SureHire. Your main role will be to check workers for any old injuries or health issues that might put them or others at risk on the job. Essentially, you’ll be assessing a worker's strength, fitness, and movement, and making sure they know the proper lifting techniques for their position.

What You’ll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)

Be the first friendly face clients see when they arrive for their occupational testing—you'll be making that great first impression!

Handle client intake, which means confirming their ID, setting up their file, and getting all the necessary paperwork sorted.

Review a client’s health and injury history, and do a full-body assessment to check their musculoskeletal health. This determines if they can safely complete the required strength and mobility testing and handle the essential parts of their job.

Oversee Critical Strength & Mobility assessments to ensure clients are using correct lifting techniques and that their heart rate and oxygen levels stay safe.

Collect breath, urine, oral fluid, and hair samples, strictly following standard chain of custody rules.

Run specimen validity and point-of-care tests, making sure you accurately interpret the results and follow all log protocols.

Perform various occupational health tests, including hearing (audiometric), lung function (pulmonary), vision screens, respirator fit, and pre-medical tests, always aiming for high-quality results.

Handle sensitive client information (like personal details and test results) with strict privacy and confidentiality.

Manage client conflicts calmly and professionally to find effective solutions.

Help out with general office tasks like inventory counts, managing records, providing client support, and other duties as needed.

What You’ll Need (Qualifications)

 Education & Experience

 - Professional Licensure: Active registration and in good standing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).

Prior background in occupational health, emergency, urgent care, or ambulatory care is strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

You need a solid understanding of anatomy, muscle and joint issues (musculoskeletal disorders), and general medical conditions to accurately assess and record a client's medical background.

You should be great at assessing range of motion, strength, and using specific orthopaedic tests to give a complete picture of a client’s current fitness.

Knowledge of proper body mechanics (biomechanics) and lifting techniques is key.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear interaction and superior customer service.

Skilled in managing conflicts and de-escalation, keeping a cool head to maintain a positive environment.

The ability to work well with diverse personality types and adapt your communication to ensure positive interactions.

You can navigate tough ethical decisions while keeping professional standards high, always prioritizing the participant’s well-being and the company's integrity.

A strong ability to perform tasks precisely and minimize errors.

You can thrive in a busy, fast-paced setting, juggling multiple tasks while keeping accuracy and efficiency high.
