About the role
 

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist – Facility Operations is the primary People Services partner for the SureHire Group of Companies facility workforce. The role builds strong relationships with facility leaders and employees and ensures SureHire's culture, people practices and employee experience are consistently represented across all locations.

The HR Generalist provides hands-on support and coaching in employee relations, performance management, workforce planning, recruitment, retention, engagement and organizational development. Working closely with operational leaders and the Corporate People Services team, this position identifies workforce challenges and develops practical, creative solutions that support fluctuating and cyclical business volumes while maintaining a strong employee experience.

A key responsibility of the position is connecting remote employees and leaders with SureHire's broader organization, ensuring employees experience consistent communication, leadership expectations, policies and cultural practices regardless of their work location

Job Conditions 

  • Primarily Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM business hours, with flexibility to support facility operations and employee matters when required.

  • Combination of Corporate Office, remote facility and virtual work environments.

  • Regular travel to SureHire facilities within Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan; Approximately 20-30% however frequency may increase during onboarding, operational change, recruitment activity or employee-relations needs.

  • Business casual dress, with appropriate adaptation to facility requirements.

Screening Requirements 

Reliable transportation and a clean driver's abstract will be required as a condition of employment. 

Job Responsibilities & Activities 

Operations Partnership & Organizational Alignment

  • HR Administration & Records Management: Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of day-to-day HR administrative activities, including collecting and maintaining employee documentation, managing confidential personnel records and filing, processing wage and compensation changes, updating employee information, preparing HR correspondence and documentation, and ensuring employee records are complete, accurate, secure, and handled in accordance with company policies and confidentiality requirements. 

  • Serve as the primary People Services partner to leaders and employees within SureHire group of companies testing and training facilities, developing trusted working relationships and maintaining regular presence and communication across locations.

  • Partner with operations leaders to identify emerging people, staffing, leadership and engagement concerns and develop proactive solutions.

  • Act as a connector between Corporate and facility employees by identifying gaps in communication, culture or employee experience and recommending practical solutions that strengthen organizational alignment.

  • Conduct regular facility visits and employee touchpoints to understand local workplace dynamics, reinforce company practices and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Support organizational change initiatives by helping facility leaders and employees understand, adopt and sustain new people practices and programs.

Employee Relations, Performance Management & Leader Coaching

  • Assist Facility leaders through employee relations matters, including performance concerns, attendance, conflict, investigations, accommodation, progressive discipline and termination, in consultation with appropriate internal resources.

Talent Acquisition, Retention & Workforce Planning

  • Lead full-cycle recruitment and selection activities for clinical and facility-based positions in partnership with operational leaders.

  • Develop creative and resourceful sourcing strategies for high-turnover positions, difficult-to-recruit markets and changing business volumes.

  • Build candidate pipelines in advance of anticipated workforce demand rather than relying exclusively on vacancy-driven recruitment.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with educational institutions, professional associations, community organizations and other talent sources.

  • Partner with Operations to understand historical and anticipated business volumes and develop workforce plans that balance employee availability, service requirements and labour costs.

  • Analyze turnover, vacancy, time-to-fill, source-of-hire and early-tenure retention data; recommend actions to improve hiring quality and workforce stability.

Employee Experience, Engagement & Development

  • Support a consistent end-to-end employee experience across Corporate and remote facilities, with particular focus on onboarding, communication, engagement, development and retention.

  • Support employee engagement initiatives, including survey administration, action planning and follow-through with facility leaders.

  • Coordinate and support training and development activities, including the curation of employee and leadership resources and integration into learning systems.

  • Identify recurring employee experience themes and partner with leaders to implement sustainable improvements.

People Services Programs, Analytics & Administration

  • Participate in People Services projects such as onboarding improvements, compensation benchmarking and organizational development initiatives.

  • Complete and interpret People Services analytics and reports related to recruitment, orientation, turnover, retention, engagement and workforce trends.

  • Provide employee support and escalation assistance related to benefits, leaves, disability management, WCB and payroll-related inquiries in partnership with internal and external providers.

  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant federal and provincial employment standards, employment legislation and HR best practices.

Education & Professional Credentials

  • Degree or diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Active pursuit and/or interest in Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is considered an asset.

Experience

  • Demonstrated full-cycle recruitment experience, including proactive sourcing and selection for operational or frontline roles.

  • Experience supporting a multi-site, decentralized or field-based workforce is strongly preferred.

  • Experience in an environment with fluctuating or cyclical staffing requirements is considered a strong asset.

  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now is a strong asset
